My car broke down on a Thursday and I need it for the weekend

Of course this happens right before I have plans. My alternator gave up and I am desperately trying to find a shop that wont keep my car sitting in their lot for a week. I have been calling around and asking how soon they can even look at it, and the wait times are crazy. I was searching online for quick turnaround car repair insights because I need someone who actually understands that some of us cant be without a vehicle for days. It seems like the smaller places might be faster since they dont have a huge backlog like the big chains. Has anyone found a shop that actually prioritizes urgent repairs or am I stuck canceling my weekend trip?
