2014 Jeep Wrangler AC evaporator freezing up – anyone dealt with this?

I've got a 2014 Wrangler and the AC has been doing something weird. After driving for about 30 to 45 minutes, the airflow from the vents drops significantly and the air becomes less cold. If I turn the AC off for 10 minutes and then back on, it works fine again for a while. I did some research and it sounds like the evaporator might be freezing up. I've checked the cabin air filter and it's clean. I'm wondering if it could be a faulty expansion valve or a low refrigerant charge causing the issue. I took it to a shop in Dubai and they wanted to replace the whole AC system for 5,000 dirhams without even doing a proper diagnostic. That didn't feel right. I'm looking for a
jeep ac workshop sharjah that actually knows these Wrangler AC systems and can diagnose the freezing issue properly. Has anyone here had an evaporator freeze up on a Jeep? What fixed it for you? I'm hoping it's something simple like a temperature sensor or a expansion valve rather than a major repair. The car has about 85k kilometers on it and I do a lot of off roading, so I need the AC to work well. If you know a good AC specialist in Sharjah for Jeeps, please share. Thanks for any advice.

Airflow dropping after 30 to 45 minutes then recovering after a 10 minute rest is textbook evaporator freeze up. A faulty expansion valve allowing too much refrigerant flow is the most common cause on these Wranglers.

Replacing the whole AC system for 5,000 dirhams without a proper diagnostic is exactly the kind of quote you walk away from. Evaporator freeze up has specific diagnosable causes that rarely require full system replacement.

Temperature sensor controlling the evaporator defrost cycle is worth checking first on an 85k Wrangler before touching the expansion valve. A failed sensor allows the evaporator to keep cooling past the freeze point without cutting the compressor.

Clean cabin filter rules out the most obvious airflow restriction cause. Expansion valve stuck open or a faulty evaporator temperature sensor are the two most likely culprits for the freeze and thaw cycle you are describing.

A Jeep AC specialist who understands these Wrangler systems will diagnose a freeze up issue properly without defaulting to full replacement. That symptom pattern is specific enough that an experienced tech will know exactly where to look within the first inspection.
