Has anyone else dealt with the Law Offices of Edward W. Hess, Jr. recently? I got a call from them today about an old debt, and I'm trying to figure out my next steps. I know I shouldn't ignore it, but I'm not sure what to do first. I've read that I should ask for proof of the debt and check if it's too old (past the statute of limitations), but it's all a bit overwhelming. I'm worried about a lawsuit or a hit to my credit report. If you've received calls from them, how did you handle it? Did you negotiate a settlement, or did you have to go to court? Any advice on what to say or what to ask for in writing would be really helpful. Thanks in advance.
