A 2009 Penny is an American one-cent coin in remembrance of the 200 th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln and the 100 th anniversary of the Lincoln cent. The U.S Mint issued four special reverse designs that depicted various phases of the life of Lincoln; Birthplace, Formative Years, Professional life, and Presidency. These pennies were produced in large numbers thus the majority of them are still in circulation. They should have a face value of one cent but uncirculated and proof coins may have a higher value. Collector especially seek mint errors, high grade coins and coins with a good strike characteristics. Both designs narrate a segment of the historical course of Lincoln.
